More to the Jordan Seaton Story?

Obviously the news that a lot of Sooners fans are still reeling from is the report of the cancelation of the visit of Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy offensive lineman Jordan Seaton.

The five-star prospect had been set for Norman this weekend but instead will take an unofficial visit to Tennessee.

And, not surprisingly, rumors have run wild about what this means in Oklahoma’s offensive line recruiting and recruiting in general. And as so often in the case some wild stuff has surfaced.

But speaking to one source it seems that the cause for this was pretty simple and extremely common.

“It just got pushed back,” the source said. “He is supposed to decide closer to (National Signing Day) so it’s just about being closer to that timeline.”

Some will remain skeptical but that’s been a policy that Oklahoma has tried to work under for quite some time. It’s a reason Danny Okoye took his official visit in-season when so many others took their Norman visits during the summer.

Now, let’s be real Oklahoma still has a long road in front of them to be a true contender for Seaton. That said, moving things closer to the decision date makes a lot of practical sense and fits Oklahoma’s model under Brent Venables.

Sooners Getting Visit from Key Safety Target

A player that hasn’t seen a lot of conversation amongst Sooners fans but is due for plenty more is four-star safety Omarion Robinson. The talented defender has flown under the radar a bit but talking to some sources, that shouldn’t be the case.

Jonah Williams is a name that a lot of Oklahoma fans know about but in speaking to sources it seems Robinson is worthy of a lot of notoriety as well.

“Omarion Robinson is a guy that (the Sooners) really like,” a source said.

“He’s going to be a focus of their safety recruiting,” another offered.

Robinson has offers from coast to coast and Oklahoma is far from alone in its pursuit.

An Interesting Visitor

Talking to Deondrae ‘Tiger’ Riden earlier this week about his visit, the DeSoto, Texas running back is excited about his trip.

“I can’t wait to get there and check the environment out,” Riden said of his first gameday visit to Norman.

But that’s when he mentioned something interesting, he wouldn’t be alone on his trip.

Who’ll be joining him? 2024 Houston offensive line commitment Ronnell Mclain.

Now, Scoop isn’t quite ready yet to say this is anything more than a friend making a trip with his teammate but it’s an interesting story to keep an eye on. Here’s McLain’s tape for those interested.

Everyone Just Waiting on 4-Star Lineman

So now we’re all just left to wait on four-star offensive lineman Eddy Pierre-Louis to see what’s happening with him. The one thing that seems to be constant? Most people think the choice is going to be Oklahoma, at least for now.

“Everything seems to point to Oklahoma,” a source said.

“Talking to people around him, Oklahoma should feel good,” another said.

Now, if things were that certain, the Sooners would already have the good news, right?

That’s kind of the hangup in Scoop, and Josh’s general optimism. We’ve been close to putting in predictions for quite some time for EPL but it feels like things are always fleeting. In the summer it was all UCF and a commitment seemed imminent. Is Pierre-Louis caught up in the moment again? It seems possible but Oklahoma has to be seen as the clear favorite. The question is, when will he decide.

“It could be tomorrow or it could be on signing day, he doesn’t seem to be in a hurry though,” a source explained.
